Tutorial on How to Recover Chair Seats

How to recover chair seats:

Before - 1970's beauties...

Take the seats off, these were attached with "L bracket" type so easy to get off.  I good tip is to number the bottom of seat and the chair so you know which seat goes back on which chair.

Take the old fabric off the seats.  The pads were still in good shape, I decided to add a quilt bat cover over the original pad

Cut the bat several inches larger than the seat.  Start by stapling at the middle of each side then work your way around the seat.  This will be covered by fabric.

Trim off excess batting.  Then do the same with fabric.

This is how I do corners, bring middle up and then the sides - I'm sure there are other ways to do this, but I like this look. Staple around all the fabric and trim off excess fabric.  That is it - super easy.

I have the 6 chairs with this butcher block harvest table in my booth at Grand Repeats in Wausau.  https://www.facebook.com/GrandRepeats

  2. I have to do this to my dinning room chairs but need to get one pad, which I have to figure out where they carry that! Then select the material which is the super hard part, too many choices! Thanks for reminding me and now I have to get out and do this!!
