Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!

That paper mache' pumpkin right there....I first almost stepped on back in June when we first looked at this huge estate to do a sale for.  I have ALWAYS wanted one!  This one still has the vellum.  I had to wait until the family picked all they wanted and we could start getting ready for the sale before I knew it was going to be mine. It was still there!  Yay for me.  Lisa even found one!

Well, that wasn't all .... eeek.....we found some super cool, old items we had to buy as well.  As we laid them out for viewing, we did a game "you pick one, I'll pick one, we can sell that one" it was so fun.  We both love old Halloween stuff.

Some of these items, you've seen before in my Halloween displays.  I only did the little table in my entry this year.  Someday, I will drag out all the (fill in the holiday) and stage it.  I also got that wool blanket from this estate.

We found a few more vintage Halloween items at that estate since I took this picture that I added to this display.

I hope your day is filled with "treats" not "tricks."

26th Annual Ringle Harvest Day

 Well, it's that time again....I just can't believe it's been 26 years!

I had a crazy idea as a much younger woman and mother, to host a huge sale at our farm.  The first year it was my sister and Lisa, the next a few more friends.  On about the 3rd year, we joined 4H and the club set up and sold pumpkins.  I made 2 huge Nesco roasters full of soup and homemade buns.  I fed the crowds for free...ya, if you think I have a lot of energy now...ahahah...shoulda seen me then!  (wink, wink).  This became a very popular, family friendly event.  Well, at about year 10, when my insurance found out how many people came here....it ended here.  It was for the best anyway, I couldn't host that large of an event here.  So we moved it down the road to our little town of Ringle.  Rest is...history I guess...

We always have it on the 2nd Saturday in October.  It coincides with National 4H Awareness week.  We have had ALL kinds of weather...even snow.  This year looks like a sunny, but cool day.  I'll take it, thank you Lord.

Yesterday, while driving back from taking my little grand back to her house, I stopped to enjoy the colors.  In the  midst of often stressful things, one can loose sight of what is important.  I just pulled my van over and sat and looked at all of God's beauty.  Boy, my little corner of Wisconsin sure is pretty right now!  I needed a "mindful" moment.  My co-general 4H leader messaged me yesterday and we were laughing about how stressed I used to get....the older we get...the less stressed we are.  The "show" will go on either way.

I was thinking about this in my "mindful" moments...I am in October - as in my stage of life.  My productive years may be less, but I think the wisdom (less stressed) is the color.  Then I happened to think of this quote from Anne of Green Gables:  "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers"
