The Gospel: (Webster) The message concerning Christ, the kingdom of God and salvation.
Pastor Hilderbrand said something this morning that I wrote down to blog about. He said "if the Gospel has not changed your life, then what you've embraced is not the true Gospel."
Think about that for a minute....
I know sometimes, Christians get caught up in the "well, I believe this or that." Sometimes I feel people get hung up on the denomination of what they believe - I'm a Lutheran, Catholic, Baptist, Methodist or Pentecostal. This makes us base our faith on a given name or organization, rather than in an experience.
He also said: "salvation is not determined by what you believe, but what is written." Also true.
The Gospel message is: that Jesus, God in flesh, died (repentance), was buried (baptism) and rose again (filling of his spirit). Our promise in the Gospel is our salvation.
"For the Gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake." I Thessalonians 1:5
So, no matter what you were before ("what manner of men we were") once you have heard the Gospel and experienced salvation, your life should reflect and embrace the change.
Something to think about. Blessings from Wisconsin.
