A Wisconsinite Accent?

I've never lived anywhere but here - Wisconsin.  However, I've been told we have an accent...really?  I know my brother-in-law from Mississippi has an accent and talks R E A L  S L O W.  I've also been told that we talk fast.  I don't know about that either - my brother-in-law sure is a "fast talker.." if you know what I mean.  Now, this is all in fun....

Since I've switched over to an iPhone, I've noticed that Siri doesn't understand me.  The microphone feature for texting doesn't understand me either.  It's not just me, but my whole family.  We decided that maybe Siri doesn't speak "Wisconsin" - do any of you have this problem.   I've had to repeat myself at times 5 or 6 times.  This is frustrating but funny.  I've laughed at some of the things "she" thinks I've said or asked.

So, maybe we do say things a little different up here...Blessings from Ringle, WI.

  3. Goodness - when Dicky Bird quotes Christopher Walken, and sit up and take notice!!! Yes, I can vouch for Wisconsin's "speedy delivery" speech patterns!

We speak fast too, but the worse thing for us is you have to throw in nordic dairyfarmer speak too (the official NW wisconsin accent)- we can only be understood by Canadians - Ask buttons from buttons thoughts on that one LOL She was tickled the first time I talked to her on the phone - I COULD UNDERSTAND HER PERFECTLY...LOL

Now living out west, and meeting lifetime Montanans, i think they ask me questions just for fun out here to hear me talk... ;p

  4. I have heard complaints for people with southern accents, but northern accents? C'mon I think you sound just fine! :)

  5. I love to hear the dialects from people who live in different areas than my own! Yours is definitely different than mine! Since the snake video, I know you surely have a "Yankee" accent! Don't be offended! I have a definite Southern accent and I'm glad I do! There's no other place I'd rather live than Dixie! Blessings from Bama!
