Not Just "yo mama's" Oatmeal

Over the past couple of weeks, I've made myself some pretty tasty, oatmeal combinations for breakfast.  Oatmeal is heart healthy, hearty and fills you up.  I know, some of you are off the carbs, however, these are good carbs.  Oatmeal contains beta-glucan, which helps slow digestion and reduces our appetite.  1 C oatmeal has 6 g of protein the same as an egg.

Yes, the prepackaged little bags of oatmeal are convenient, however you can NOT control what is in there.  LISTEN, oatmeal is super easy and takes "minutes" to make.  Be creative, use natural sweeteners, add fruit and nuts.

Maple, nut oatmeal (I used walnuts and my sister's homemade WI maple syrup):

Lemon, honey, cinnamon & blueberry oatmeal:

Almond, honey & craisin oatmeal:

Almond, honey & bananna oatmeal:

Raisin, honey & walnut oatmeal:

Apple, honey & cinnamon oatmeal:

I've enjoyed EVERY bowl!

Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.

  4. Something that we have regularly, sometimes we also add a few seeds on top too.

  6. Dang girl....I should have eaten breakfast before I read this,...you made me really hungry and I am not even a huge oatmeal fan (prefer it in cookies LOL). Seriously, though....that looks delicious! I never really thought about making your own oatmeal. You always manage to make me think out of my box. Sunday Blessings ~ Robin
