Motivation Monday - Buy Local This Christmas

The past 2 weekends, I have attended 2 craft shows, as a customer, rather than a vendor.  I wanted to support other artists this Christmas.  I have purchased several homemade
items for gifts already.  I can't show those pictures...however, I can show what I bought for myself.

The first show was in Burlington, WI - this is almost 4 hours from here.  I found out about this show via another blog:  http://mycolonialhome.blogspot.com/2014/11/christmas-craft-show-invite.html

This was a really cute show - vendors had their own cabins at the YMCA camp.  You walked between the lodges and cabins - such a great idea!  The event promoter in me was thinking....where could I do this up by us?  Truthfully, Karen's cabin had in my opinion the "best" items...they were primitives!  I bought one of her penny rugs - for me!

I plan to put a "Charlie Brown" tree on this crock using the penny rug as the tree skirt.

This past weekend, I attended another show in Wittenberg, WI at the WOW space.  I stopped because my friend Sara who also writes a blog:  http://providenceplace4me.blogspot.com/

She homeschools her 6 children, so not too much blogging lately...she does instagram... so, I knew she would be there.

I bought this for me....she makes them using chalk board not the chalk board paint.

If you come to the "Vintage & Handmade" Pop Up Sale here at the farm this Friday evening - you will see this on the treat table.

At the Ringle Harvest Day, Missy, one of my "flea" vendor friends gave me these adorable socks.  She works for Wigwam Mills, Inc. in Sheboygan, WI.

Here is a link to their facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/WigwamSocks

As a consumer, I would rather buy American - and to top that off...buy from a Wisconsin business.  I know to do this, it does "cost" more....however, when we do this, we support our friend's and neighbor's jobs.  Keep that in mind while Christmas shopping this year - buy smarter!

Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.

  1. What a great idea, Jacky! There are so many good places to shop like that in Wisconsin! The rug is so cute! And I LOVE the socks! That's the only thing about buying local, it always cost more! But I love buying American made items! Thanks for sharing! Blessings from Bama!
