Spring Chores

After a long cold Winter, it sure is nice to get out and do chores.  Not that we don't do chores everyday - it is just easier when there isn't so much ice, snow and cold.

A very real part of having animals is that what goes in...must go out...  Dealing with this, in -40 weather is not easy.  I can't tell you how many sleds full of poo I had to pull over the snow to the compost pile.  It was nice today to get out the tractor with the bucket.  It saves loads when you can fill the bucket and just dump it.

I am NOT a good driver!  I would much rather be a passenger.  Al has been letting me drive the tractor.  I'm still afraid of it as too many personal injury pictures flash through my head from my old law office days.  A healthy fear is good and keeps one safe.

We have an old barn and I love it.  Al wanted to make a hole in it to drop down hay to the horses.  I didn't want him to cut a hole in our old barn - but, I agreed.  I am glad I did, it makes feeding them this past Winter so much easier.

Even with mats, the ice makes it hard to keep them clean.  Not to mention - yet again - the polar vortex!

But, today was a nice day to get out and scrape them down again.  Still working on the frozen end part.  That is the north side - not too much sunlight to soften it up yet.

These 4 sure are happy with the warmer days.

Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.

  1. Yes. I have a lot of winter clean up to do as soon as it gets just a little warmer. It's just another part of spring I guess.

  3. Hi Jacky! I would probably be afraid to drive a tractor too! But you seem to be able to handle it very well! So glad the snow is finally melting! Hopefully there won't be any more! I didn't think about you having to do chores like that at 40 below! Incredible! Have a nice weekend! Blessings from Bama!
