Motivation Monday - "Hibernation Mode"

Motivation Monday - "Hibernation Mode"

This morning was a new record low for us here, -35.  I was thinking, it is almost impossible to think that anyone could actually succeed at weight loss in these conditions.  When you are outside working in this type of weather, your body naturally wants to conserve and hold on to your fat (insulation).  Think about it.....  Now I know I haven't been doing the best to stick to my program - but, would it even matter?  Yes, better food choices, tracking and counting points does matter.  I wouldn't want to think of how much I might have gained over this long winter otherwise.

When Al told me how cold it was this morning when we woke up - I said to him...."this is un-natural!"

So, motivation for this Monday - realizing that I might make good choices, but the weather is working against me!

Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.

  1. Eww! Sounds unreal! I couldn't imagine going close to the door, much less opening it and going outside! Poor animals! And poor you when you go out to feed them! A rebounder is how I stay motivated these days! I love jumping on it every day! But stationery bikes are good too. You just have to do what works for you. The temp started at 50 but will be dropping all day with gusty winds and rain. I will stay in except for feeding the animals. Hope it warms your way this week! Blessings from Bama!

  2. This extreme cold winter is getting old ... I don't like complaining but my funny fuse if frozen and I'm not enjoying this weather at all. I have turned to chocolate for comfort - not a good thing! I think a raspberry rhubarb pie is going to happen today - just a clue of how my winter 'dieting' is going! Argh ... enough is enough already. Even with the beautiful sparkles across the snow ... I'm looking forward to mud!

  3. agreed! winter is tough to feel motivated to lose any amount of weight when you want to burrow under quilts indoors.
