Week 5 Cookies–Jumbo Soft Molasses



Jumbo Soft Molasses Cookies

1 1/2 C shortening                  1 1/2 C brown sugar

2 eggs                                  1 C Dark Molasses

5 C flour                                1/2 tsp. salt

4 tsp. baking soda                   2 tsp. cinnamon

2 tsp. ginger                           2 tsp. cloves

In mixing bowl, cream shortening and brown sugar.  Add eggs and molasses.  In another bowl, mix salt, soda, cinnamon, ginger cloves and flour.  Add to creamed mixture till blended.  Chill for at least 1 hour.  I used an ice cream scoop 3/4 full, formed into a ball, rolled in white sugar and bake 2” apart on lightly sprayed pan.  Bake at 350 till cracked and brown (like 13 – 15 min.).  Makes 3 – 4 Doz. large cookies.  Again…don’t over bake.
