Hello November

I made these muffins one day this past week.  Super easy, mix in 1 bowl with wooden spoon easy.  It's getting to be that time of year when you want to bake something and have your home filled with all the smells.

I want to "work on" the recipe before I share it.

This week we studied Costa Rica.

I didn't know about the history of the colorful oxen carts used in Costa Rica.  We watched a little YouTube video on it.  We tried to make our own.

The estate "pick up clean up" filled my medium size trailer and there is still more to go get this next Monday.  I hope that will be it.  There were some nice things, so I hope it will be worth the work.

I did my tradition of planting my garlic on Halloween.  This year I ordered some from Baker Heirloom Seeds and also saved the largest bulbs from my own cultivated garlic.  In between the cold rain drops, I planted 100 bulbs.  I can't wait to see them in the spring along with the dozens of tulips I planted.

We took in 20 "homeless" chickens from Al's cousin several weeks back.  They have begun to lay eggs for us now.  I don't normally push egg production in winter, but I may this year.

My ankle is still giving me troubles.  I read a severe sprain can take longer than a break.  So, I've been taking it slow.

I probably won't post again before the election.  I'm rather anxious about what will happen after one of those "devils" are chosen as president.  Our country is so divided and both sides have "crazies" that potentially could cause problems.  I have out of state plans for the end of next week....in larger cities...if it's crazy, I'm staying home.

Praying for a peaceful election.  However, I feel this is the beginning of the end - no matter the results.

Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.

  1. I hate this feeling of unease surrounding the election. I find myself singing a song from my adolescence a lot lately. "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me," helps me remember to reach out in love to my neighbors even if we don't have the same signs in our yards.

  2. Yes it is baking season...and, of course, soup season. I have really slacked in both categories the last few months. It just seems that time is whizzing by me and I am left spinning in circles. I don't know anything about Costa Rica. Now I will have to look up about the oxen carts. Wow...that's a lot of garlic. What do you do with all of it?? I can't wait to see your tulips! Happy November Jacky.... Praying for peace. ~Robin~

    1. I love garlic. It is also something "easy" to plant. I hope the tulips come up!

  3. When I twisted my ankle the doctor told me it would be worse than if I had broke it. I was on crutches for weeks. I find it so interesting the countries you pick to teach and you do such a great job at the projects. That is a lot of garlic to plant and I hope they all pop out of the ground for you in the Spring. With respect to the election, I sure hope we do not become a socialist country...our founding fathers must be rolling in their graves. Janice

    1. Thank you. My daughter picks the country, I just come up with the art and food part of it. I am enjoying it!
