I purchased this primitive dry sink from one of our sales. Truthfully, when we looked at the sale, was one of the companies the family called, I couldn't stop thinking of this piece. When the family decided to go with us, I was so excited. Granted, the family had pricing ideas for some of the pieces they weren't sure they really wanted to sell - this was one of them. (sad face). So, we marked it, in the ballpark of what they wanted. We had their lowest price and would have sold it, but no one came close to it....except me....ahahah! I would have sold it, just so you know, if someone would have beat "my price." (wink, wink). So, here it is in my entry. I LOVE it! It also has historical meaning to me being from the neighboring farm community.
We still need to stain the doors for the closet, which is to the right of the dry sink. That will have to wait till spring when it can be done outside. I have an older primitive chandelier to rewire and hang above the dry sink yet. I plan to hang another 1 or 2 pictures under the other, just can't decided which ones. All the pictures in this room are barns. I don't put curtains on this window, as it only looks out into the barn yard and I don't have any reason to have them. I love the sunlight!
As I do more "intentional -vs- cluttered" decorating, I will use this dry sink to "theme" out each month. I may not always have the ironstone there, but for January, February maybe even March as it is still winter here - it feels appropriate.
Also, I plan to have an "arrangement of the month." I started this last year when my flowers were in full bloom and I loved it. So, until that time, artificial ones will have to do. Here is my January arrangement.
Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.
Thank you for the comment! I do love it!
ReplyDeleteYou know I love, love, LOVE your dry sink. It is positively the most unique one I have ever seen. And, of course, the zinc liner is the icing on the cake. You've styled it perfectly with all the whites as well. What a large, welcoming, entry way.... I envy you that. I have no entry way to speak of...our front door just opens onto the little hall that runs around the living room - which is sunken so many people fall off the edge when they come in. Stupid design, but no way to modify when we remodeled. I have almost no curtains anywhere - just a few decorative ones in the dining, kitchen and laundry windows. I have wood blinds in the bedrooms for darkness, but that's it. Hope you're ready for the weather that's on its way. I knew we'd have to pay for the mild start to our winter. Eeek. ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteThe peak on the back and the zinc liner - did it for me too! I will pay for the mild start with snow - not the -freezing (I hate that!). They keep updating the forecast with more snow. My daughter, down in Calumet Co. - blizzard warning.
DeleteYeah for you bringing that wonderful piece home. It is perfect under the window and I agree no need for a curtain. I also love your January display with the ironstone and it is perfect for this month. Look forward to seeing each month now. Janice
ReplyDeleteI hope to keep up with it. Your vignettes inspire me!
DeletePerfect vignette for January and the dry sink is a great storage piece as well. RHill, TX
ReplyDeleteYes, the storage too! I already have my grand's color books, crayons, chalk etc. in the bottom. Easy for them to reach.
