Well, Challenging Months for Me

 It's been a bit since I posted.

First, we had a very successful Ringle Harvest Day, it was my 29th year organizing it.  With my disease I was praying I wouldn't fall and I didn't.  We had a beautiful day, so many happy customers and vendors.  On to 3oth...

I did fall, Monday after, at the town meeting.  Good thing the fire department was right there.  I did break my femur.

In all honesty, I don't remember much of the first several days in the hospital.  I had surgery and then moved to the inpatient rehab area.  I was in hospital for 3 weeks.

Look at all my hardware....

After a home visit, some moving around of furniture, fresh painting of a few rooms, resanding, staining wood floors (because, why not...rooms are empty.  Thanks Al) and transfer approvals, I was able to come home.  I am able to have in home therapies for now.

I was totally blown over with a surprise from our town.  They made me a sign...I can't believe it.  My friend said, "it's not a memorial (because of disease) but a recognition of your accomplishments, we all still expect you to keep doing what you do."  The television station was there too.  I was so overwhelmed with emotions.

I feel so blessed.

We had a nice Thanksgiving just our children here.  Al helped me with the food.  The girls each brought things too.

A few more last of season bouquets from a flower subscription someone gave me.  I loved it!

Al's new drone's birds eye view of the farm

Al did get a 7 point buck for rifle hunting season.

My friends took over a selling space next to my office/shop and we have been selling like a Christmas Conjunction.  It has been fun, the days I was able get out and go over there.  We have this week yet to sell - it was meant to be just seasonal.

Well, that rounds out October and November for me.  Looking forward to December activities.

Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.

  1. I am so sorry to read about your injury. It sounds like you are recovering in the best way possible, not that it is easy.

    1. Yes, Janice, it's been a "full" year. I'm hoping 2026 isn't so "full" - wink, wink. Thanks for the comment.

  4. Yikes, Jacky...I knew you had been diagnosed and had fallen previously but did not realize this latest setback. I'm so very sorry to read of it. I'm glad Al was able to get things taken care of so you could come back home. This getting old stuff is getting tough, no? When I fell down my stairs a few years back and broke my leg, I opted to not have surgery and have paid the price. Because of the injuries not being repaired, I ended up relying on my other leg and that caused other complications. My knee in that other leg went out a few years back and I was able to get relief with steroid injections...but it went out late last week and I didn't know if I would even make it out of bed one morning. I'm scheduled for another injection tomorrow afternoon... Hoping weather holds and that it works. Glad you were able to have a nice Thanksgiving. I was alone so no turkey and fixin's here. :-(

    1. Robin, I hope you made it in to town for your injection. I'm so glad to be on this side of my break and surgery. When I first went over to rehab at hospital, I wasn't sure how I would "do" any of this. Each day, has challenges, but I just try to keep going - with smile on my face. Thanks!

    1. Thanks Sharon. It has been the year....I hope 2026 isn't quite as challenging. It's a good thing I'm high energy normally, because I still have some inspite of all this.

  8. Oh my, Jackie! All that hardware to repair the broken femur. Eek! I’m thankful for modern medicine and glad to hear you’re on the mend. I kept checking your blog and just thought you were busy and didn’t have time to post. You were super busy, but not in a good way. Still praying for you. We know God is a healer physically, spiritually, and mentally. RHill, TX

    1. Thanks. I am leaning on that! God is our healer. During all this, especially at rehab, I had to call upon His name with almost every step. I was so afraid of falling again.
