The dogs found the dead coyote in the ditch, down by the bridge. This is the second road kill this week. The first was a deer in front of our house the school bus hit. There are soooo many deer out right now! We have several apple trees in our front yard that the deer love.
Since looking up "Fire Horse," I'm now getting all kinds of things like this on my social media feeds. Anyway, this really fits me again.
March 6 and 7 is the Vintage Shop Hop. Stores in IL and WI. Here is link to the map: The Vintage Shop Hop I've been getting things marked and creating more to sell.
More needle felted Easter/Spring ornaments to hang from a twig tree.
We have a laundry themed vignette. So I cleaned off my laundry room shelf. Here is a bofore picture (couple years ago).
When we remodeled the bathroom, laundry and entry, I boxed most of this up for "maybe" I'll put it back out. Instead most of it stayed boxed up. So, our laundry vignette was "born." These, however will be added back to my decorations.
This is a calendar from 1931. In 1980-90's there was a very well know antique dealer, we all called "Granny." I loved being next to her at auctions. She would sift through her boxes, while auction still going on. If you were next to her, she'd have a box or so of items from the day that she didn't want. Those were the good ol' days when auctioneers sold boxes full, not individual items. I remember this one HOT day, way out in the woods, middle of no where, northern Wisconsin, there was an auction of 2 sisters who were Vauderville actresses. Oh my goodness, the vintage clothes, hats, shoes and gloves. I couldn't compete with the prices Granny was paying. She said "honey, if you want all the clothes I don't want, you can have them." So, I didn't bid. Oh, I drug, literally, drug, box after box to my Bronco. Until it was so full, I couldn't fill it any more. Anyway, she didn't like "everyone" (wink, wink). However, over the years she gave me all kinds of things. This calendar is one of them. It's a granny to remind me of her. I know in this current time of "pickers" and "thrifting" no one knows her or the other numerous old timer's that were a fixture every weekend at an auction. But I do. I started my business when it was prime picking and loved it!
Also, I had time to make a small vignette in my entry.
I made the tulip wool hanging from a kit years ago.
I love those fuzzy little chicks. I remember going to Ben Franklin when I was little and seeing those out at Easter time. Like so many other things I collect, we couldn't afford extras like that then, but I make up for it now. Hahaha
Quotes this week from my daily devotions.Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.

We had Woolworth when I was a kid. And we had little money when we were kids. I sure wish I was closer to go to your hop.
ReplyDeleteCathy
We also had Kreseg's with a lunch counter. Thanks.
DeleteThat first quote is so true. I live it daily, being quite content with what I have. Blessings...
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a good one. I strive to live it, the older I get the easier it is.
DeleteI almost hit a coyote myself last night driving home. Glad I was able to brake. It was both raining and getting foggy so I was driving slower too. I so loved the story of granny. We use to go to this one auction where there were box lots. We usually bought a few. This particular auction also had surprise boxes that were sealed. We would bid on a few of those as well. It was fun. Janice
ReplyDeleteOh I would have bid on those closed "surprise boxes" too! I love "grab bags" too!
Deletefunny to "see yourself completely" in gemini in a nutshell. pretty needle felting, i wish i could master that art!!
ReplyDeleteI may not be the loudest in room....but, as last of 6 kids, I grew to speak up. Thanks.
DeleteI remember going to the Red Cross Drugstore in Spooner, Wi as a kid. We drove through last year and it is still there!
ReplyDeleteI miss those old drug stores. My parents are from Crandon, WI area. It was a real treat to go to the drug store and....."get a Coke from the 'Coke Counter' how my mom said it." Great memories.
DeleteYour felted pieces are very cute. I love the tulip hanging too and some of your fun decorations!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I guess others liked them too, as I sold out. I guess I'll do more of them.
DeleteBeautiful photos, lovely creations and great memories! I remember F W Woolworth! Such a fun store! All the little vintage items in your photos bring back great memories of days gone by when I was a little girl! Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Oh I can still see shelves and things hanging at that store. I always wanted this little doll and her baby stuff, which were attached to a piece of cardboard packaging. Like an elastic toy watch for you and one matching for your baby (doll).
DeleteYour shop looks like it was filled with all sorts of fun...that pressed pulp paper bunny would have come home with me had I been able to join the "hop." Stuck at the lake dealing with devastating flooding issue. Sweet felting... I have chicks and rabbits somewhere that haven't seen the light of days in a long, long, time.
ReplyDeleteOh no about the flooding! I hope you don't have too much loss. Thanks, I sold all the felted pieces. It was a great shop hop.
DeleteI always tell my husband that whatever you look at on social media is what you see more of lol.
ReplyDeleteThe displays all look so lovely, like something out of a magazine. You are really talented. I hope you didn't wear yourself out too much. The felted animals look lovely. I really do need to give it another try and see if I can get the hang of it! I wish I was closer to stop by the shop hop, maybe one day when husband retires and we take a detour on the way to daughter's in Minnesota!
I was on verge of "wearing myself out" it was so busy. Mostly, talking, sharing, checking people out. My friend did all the - helping get this down, cleaned off - leg work - thankfully. Oh that would be lovely if you did that.
DeleteYou are so creative and like to enjoy interesting things. That is what that Granny at the auction saw in you, I think.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope so, she was someone I looked up to in the "business."
