I haven't thought about this word for ages. This cute little frog came across my FB feed and I had to share it. PUTTERING is the perfect word for what I plan to do in 2026. I have always put pressure on myself to do things, things that I want to do, but I bully myself (ahaha) into making me do them. If anything, 2025 taught me - you better not make plans, rush to the next thing, or bully myself by making announcements or creating events too far in the future. I tend to do the latter, as a way to hold myself accountable. Accountable to who? I need to slow it down, focus on the next thing not the next, next thing. So PUTTERING along I will go.
I've been PUTTERING in the kitchen. The muffins look good, however, I forgot the baking soda. Maybe too much PUTTERING (wink, wink).
Had my 12 week appointment with surgeon today. More xrays on my broken femur and the healing process. The assistant said it looks good and she pointed out the new bone growth. I go back in 6 weeks. I will still be getting physical therapy. We agreed, that I'm not quite ready to go outpatient therapy yet. So, I hope to have in home therapy for another month. She told me I could return to the pool, but I'm afraid I'll fall. I was told broken femurs take 6 months maybe longer to heal in normal patients. Due to my IBM (muscle disease) it may take me longer. So, I will keep PUTTERING away with my therapy.
Did you pick a word or theme for your 2026?
Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.

Hoping things will continue to heal well.
ReplyDeleteYou accomplished a lot last year despite setbacks. Puttering is a good word.
I'm not sure if I have a word this year, I know there are several things I want to accomplish or at least work on. I did well at the beginning of last year but when summer came and we got busy things were forgotten.
I definitely want to work on downsizing things in the house this year. I need to let things go. It's not easy. Sigh. At this point though, I'm finding all the stuff around distracting and frustrating. I hate not being able to find anything.
Oh you said that perfectly! I too hate not being able to find what I want, when I want to use it. Thanks for the sweet comment! I do try to keep doing. Some days I am tired and others, I don't even know I have this disease. Keeping my mind and hands busy help.
DeletePuttering is a good word and I use it and do it fairly often.
ReplyDeleteGlad your starting to mend.
Cathy
Thanks. I am glad to be on this side of the break. Healing
DeleteI don't do resolutions or words/themes for the new year but, that said, "puttering" and "putzing" are two of my most favorite words in my vocabulary. In fact, they sort of define my life these days of late LOL. I'm glad your appt showed good progress and I wouldn't complain about in-home therapy vs. outpatient - especially this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to have in-home for that reason. Like today....icy... Well, we both are on the same PUTTERING path I guess.
DeleteSounds like you are making progress. Just be patient with yourself.
ReplyDeleteNo word was chosen this year, but I will continue to focus on being present in the moment and finding all of the blessings in my day-to-day.
Oh, that is true too! Thanks for reminding me to find the blessing in each day.
Deletemy thinking exactly. at my age, i have rushed enough. having a business to run, raising 2 kids and raising my husband, i'm ok with "puttering"...in fact, i do it a lot. i spend today puttering and have to constantly remind myself that it's ok!! i am not sure what i did today, but i kept busy. i am happy and we just ate leftovers, i did not even have to cook!! good luck with that leg, i am (was) a nurse and you are right about femurs, they heal slowly!!
ReplyDeleteWe sound the same, "my age, my business to run, 2 kids, 1 husbad and dozens of animals on farm" I earned puttering...we earned it! I broke right above my knee - jagged break - so abut 12 screws in knee to hold it together. Thanks for the comment
DeleteAll progress is good, so just keep on! Puttering is my favorite thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea how many of us relate to or like PUTTERING! Thanks for comment.
