I am really and truly “simple”. I don’t need fancy things and I don’t have the “keeping up with the Jones” mentality. It really doesn’t bother me if I don’t get a birthday or anniversary card from my husband. I just want him to help me do the stuff around here I can’t do. I often remind him….”you are pretty lucky, you know, most women would get mad if you didn’t buy them flowers or cards” This is true…I use to work with plenty of women who demanded that their husbands or boyfriends bought them this or that…or took them here or there….if they didn’t – they would get mad and pout. I just wanted to let him know that he could have picked one of those types… (smile).
Don’t get me wrong, I like flowers and cards. But, I would rather have an old rusty piece of something to put in my garden that he picked up at an auction for a $1 or so. Or have him – like he did do for me this year – dig out my raised beds (again) and help me weed thru the quack roots (again) so I can plant some stuff. We really work together as a team – and we make a good one too. I’m so thankful for him and that Jesus had him picked out just for me – He knew what I needed.
I was walking around my yard the other day, taking pictures of stuff to put on here, and I saw my hosta leaves…how pretty with that drop of dew on them. Even the little specks of dirt in the drop. I wonder how many times in a day we neglect to look at the smallest things and see beauty. Or, even be thankful for it. I am reminded of a song we sang at church years ago…”From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised” Psalms 113:3 Help me Lord to be thankful in ALL things and to see the beauty of your creation, even as small as the dew drops. Blessings from Wisconsin!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post! The plant pic is very very very cool! Love the water puddle on the top. You really captured God's beauty. Simple yes, but to think of how a plant grows........I am in awe of a wonderful God that blesses us and so many times we don't even see. You saw.....and shared. Thank you sweet friend.

Thanks Linda, only I can't figure out how to link it back to this week on your blog. My daughter isn't here to help me either...Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so blessed to have a hubby that is so good to you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post, and the pictures are wonderful! I too find so much joy in little things. When I see these lovely little things in God's creation, I think of them as "spirit lifters". Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love those pictures! It's kind of like one I posted on mine this week. It's of a beautiful orange flower, that I thought had black dots on it. But, the dots were actually busy little ants! It's amazing what we can see when we take the time to notice. Thanks! Heather
