Ringle Harvest Day - Rainy but Good

For those wondering, it did rain all day.  However, the customers were out and we had a good day overall.

I think people finally "get" my art.  I actually sold alot.  My 16' trailer is almost empty.  Which is good, because I'm going to "buy out" an estate and need it empty.  :)

I had NO expectations.  I know the Lord had his hand in it as I haven't had sales like this for years!  I had a good year last year with record sales - I almost doubled that!  

I know the Bible says:  "it rains on the just and the unjust" so, with sales like this...I can stand a little rain.

My Halloween Folk Art - Ringle Harvest Day

I've been busy painting and making my paper mache'.  Here is a sample of what I have made for my booth at the Ringle Harvest Day. 

 

The forcast for Saturday - RAIN...I will still be set up, along with many other vendors.  Pray that it isn't an all day soaker.

Getting Ready for Ringle Harvest Day

When we moved out to the country, I had a dream of opening up an antique (junk) shop and studio.  It was 17 years ago that I set up my first sale out here - in our garage.  Every year since, I have organized an event for the 2nd weekend in October.  For 10 of these years it was held here at our farm.  In that time I set up and sold in our garage, barn, old outbuilding, pole shed and eventually my own little shop and studio that my husband built me.   However, we outgrew our farm with the amount of vendors that wanted to set up.  Also, my insurance agent advised that we shouldn't "invite" all those people to our farm.  So, we moved it down the road a bit to the whole town of Ringle.

I have been "diggin" up some primitive treasures for my booth.  Here are a few before pictures of some of the items I will be bringing.

By the way, the trailer is half loaded already.  If you live close - you should come on over to Ringle.  We are about 12 miles east of Wausau right on Hwy 29.

Roasted Vegetables - Soup & Sauce

Roasted Vegetable - Soup & Sauce

This was really just a way to use up some of my garden extras; however, it is absolutely delicious!

I took all kinds of veggies (zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, squash, carrots, onions, garlic and celery) diced them up into chunks, drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper.  I put them in a 300 oven for about 2 hours till fall apart tender.

Then I cut the skins off the veggies that need it like squash, eggplant and zucchini and dumped all of the veggies, including the pan juices into a stock pot.  I added a jar of my home canned V-8 juice for extra liquid.

I cooked this all down for about 45 min - 1 hr.  on low.  I then used my hand blender to mix it all together.

Mix this together until it is free of lumps.  Now you have some sauce.   I put 3 cups into freezer bags for later as pasta sauce or soup.

I then added a cup of water to 3 cups of this sauce and made a really tasty roasted vegetable soup!  I'm telling you...cheap, frugal tip and steps to a gourmet meal.

I LOVE soups!

My Big Brother To The Rescue

Did you ever have one of those days when nothing is going right?  Like today for instance...I had a flat tire.  I was working at my friend's farm, while they are at the World Beef Expo, to find my car had a flat when I went to leave.   What to do...who to call?  My big brother Frank....to the rescue.....(tatada...that's my trumpet sound).  Thanks for picking me up and taking me home Frank - I love you for that and many other reasons!  He has a blog too.  It's the button on the sidebar with a toad riding a motorcycle.
