Evelyn's News From Home

NOTE:  This is a fictional story I created to be the premis of our 3 VIRTUAL sales.  Week 1 was "I Do," week 2 was "Barn Yard" and this is our final week "Farmer's Wife."  We follow along in Evelyn's journey from June bride to farmer's wife.  The VIRTUAL event will be, Saturday, June 20.  We will post photos of what is for sale that morning.  These blog posts will give clues as to what you may expect in each vignette.

If you are new to the story, go back in the previous blog posts to find out about Evelyn & Williams's story.

Evelyn had settled in nicely to her new Wisconsin farm life as William's farmer's wife.  The letters she sent to her family were filled with colorful stories of "feeding" calves, hired hands, William and the bacteria that it takes to make her cheese.  Their first year of marriage was filled with lessons of farm, animals and life.  She had become very happy being called the "Farmer's Wife."

As the truck pulled up to the mailbox, Evelyn was waiting, "any news from Maryland?" she asked the driver.  "Yep, there is one right here" he said as he handed her the letter.  As Evelyn opened it, she could hardly believe the news, "William!" she yelled as she ran toward the barn.   "What is wrong?" he asked as he came running out the door.  "Nothing is wrong, everything is right!" her voice was shaking.  "Mom, dad and Frank are coming for a visit!  Oh, William, can you believe this wonderful news!"

Evelyn could hardly contain her excitement.  "I have so much to do.  I will need to clean this cabin from top to bottom.  Sheets to wash, beds to make, not to mention the pies, cookies and cakes to bake."  Evelyn chattered on for days about the the planning and preparation for the family's visit.

Evelyn had only a few weeks to get everthing ready.  After chores, the rest of her days were spent working diligently to cross off each task from her list.  "Make new curtains for bedroom window.  I can cross that one off."  She talked to herself and the heifer's as she worked.  "Girls, what do you think?"  She would ask and then laugh when one would give here an approving "mooo."  "I think so too!" she said as she put the bucket away and skipped back to the cabin to work.

Follow along this week as Evenly prepares for her family's visit from Maryland to Wisconsin.  She is so excited to share her new life as a "Farmer's Wife."  The vignettes will be shared under the event.  This will be virtual where you may purchase the items.  "It's a Farm Life - VIRTUAL Vintage Pop Up Sale" link here:
