Blogger Reflection - Where Have All The Bloggers Gone?

I've been writing Dicky Bird's Nest since December 6, 2010.  It's almost painful to go back and look at my first year of posts.   However, reading them, I had some insightful ideas and advice.  Therefore, I plan to revisit, revise and repost.

A blog is as unique as it's writer.  Some use it as a tool for families to keep in touch, a venue for a political voice, a catalog of recipe keeping and a virtual diary of all your activities.  The "blogosphere" is full of anything you would want to look up or know how to do.

I do write this blog for me - a piece of my heart and life that I choose to share with my followers and others who "happen upon" my page.

Over the years, I have met some wonderful people in "blogland."  Many are still writing, others on hiatus and some just vanished.  It's the later that I've noticed lately.  Some of my favorites no longer show up in my daily reading lists.  I just wonder, where have all the bloggers gone?

I do understand, blog "burn out" is real.  The pressure to come up with creative, unique posts, competing with last month/year's page views, finding new hops or linky parties to join, not to mention the reading and leaving comments on other's blogs - it can become like a "job."

I've been reading many posts on blogging lately.  What I found is that by chance I happen to do some of the same things these bloggers do.  When I started, I had no instruction on how to do this, I just do what I do the way I do it.  I enjoy sharing and writing and so I continue.

If you are a blogger, what tips would you be willing to share with us.  What do you enjoy about your blog?  What blogs are your favorites?  Share with us.....

Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.

  1. Blogs can be dull..I think some may have went to Pinterest..What I want to look at I can find on Pinterest and not get all the Bla! Bla!that I find on blogs.. On my blog I watch my numbers..stats & stats of people who follow by email..This tells me all I need to know..To tell the truth I follow only two blogs..Yours & Chippy Shabby..That's it..Good post made me think..hikchik

  2. It does look like a lot of bloggers have disappeared and it is sad. I am still here writing for myself and anyone else that wants to listen but I am not as rigid as I used to be. Blog burnout is a real thing. I do love and miss all the friends I have met here. Keep writing Dicky Bird I do still read I just never have time to comment which makes me a bad blogger I know. There is no excuse other than my real LIFE that needs to be tended too. I do hope my blogger friends understand. Hug B

  4. I think more than half of the blogs I have followed, no longer write.
I think more people are sharing on Facebook Instagram etc. I think blogging is just not as popular as it was a couple of years ago.
I try to write once a week, but that does not always happen. Farm life gets busy...and gets in the way at time :)

  5. What I love about blogging is some of the great people I've met on here. Because of my hip replacement and then a hip revision replacement, I missed a lot of blogging and am just now trying to catch up. Recovery from those surgeries doesn't mesh with sitting. I love blogging as a place to share my photos and life in general and silliness with my friends. :-)

  6. I am still here even if I am not always here if you know what I mean! Oh and to answer your question, no, no wild bears in the UK, but I have some teddy bears!

  7. Hi Jacky! Good post for thought. You know my blog and what I write about. Things haven't really changed a whole lot over the years I've been writing. I feel like I share the same things every year. That's why I post only once a month. You read about it last year; and it's happening again this year. Just may be a different month. I post for myself and my nieces so they can see pics of their kids and what they do when they're at our house. It's fun to look at old posts and see how they've grown. I don't plan on quitting. I actually enjoy blogging. Just not on a daily/weekly basis. But it is sad to see blogs fall by the wayside that were so popular a few years ago! I miss them! Have a great weekend! Blessings from Bama!

  9. If you have a minute, I’d really appreciate it if you took a look at Emily’s Virtual Rocket. This is a serious newsblog which has been taken from e-newspapers and e-magazines from around the world, with an emphasis on transgender issues. Also, with his election, I look for articles which critique Donald Trump.

I hope you enjoy this. Please paste the following:

If you like it, please consider putting it among your favorite blogs. I would greatly appreciate it.

  10. I would be one of those absent bloggers! Things in life just get busy and I leave blog land for awhile. Then it is hard to get back into the routine of writing and reading. Add to that a whole lot of issues with my laptop. The desk top is in the damp, cold basement, not a fun place to be in the winter. I know lots of excuses! lol. But I really do miss the bloggers I read regularly, especially you!
