Christmas in the Country - 2015 Reveal

It is reveal time....LaVell from Growing For Tomorrow at Word Press had my name.  She is a Colorado native and transplant...(she married a 3rd generation farmer) to Kansas.  She tells me Kansas people are really nice.  From her letter and gift to me....she proves this fact.

What touched me the most about her gift was that she sent me a recipe to add to my cookie cookbook.  I love that she knew this about me and added such a personal touch.  I will be using this recipe in my 52 Weeks of Cookies cookbook.

It sounds like she has such a rewarding job.  She consults farm families with finances, working through tough situations and planning for expansion or succession to the next generation.  That's awesome!

She also sent me a rooster tea tin with some blooming tea from her trip to China last fall.  https://growingfortomorrow.wordpress.com/travels/

She went with the United States Soybean Export Council as a agri/educational exchange...I guess...sounds really interesting.  I added the link so you may go and read about it.   I can't wait to try this tea.

She also sent me a soybean candle from the Kansas Soybean Commission; I love natural art and consider myself a folk artist and love the woven wheat ornament and of course...chocolate.

What I love the most about this gift exchange is the gift of connecting with new friends.  Ladies, who understand the ups and downs of rural life.  Thanks Laurie and all those who help make this exchange possible.  I look forward to next year.

Thank you LaVell, I love all the personal touches to my gift.  I have just started to follow you and look forward to more of your posts...love the food ones too!

Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.

  2. Great gift Jacky! I love the wheat art. Someday I am going to attempt a project like that myself. I will now have to back track on your blog and see about your 52 weeks of cookies. They are one of my favorite things to bake and put in the freezer for the guys and kids for when there is no time for baking.
