2013 Wisconsin Valley Fair - Department 18 - Cultural Arts.
As I stated before, I took over a Superintendent role in this department. I really enjoyed entry day, helping kids check in their projects, giving positive praise, watching the judging and learning new things. Here are a few of "my" 4-H kids on entry day.

In my role in this department, it was so rewarding to see the projects that I helped the kids make. If you remember, I held "Jacky's Craft Camp" and helped with a county wide "hands on day." I was so excited to see all of the needle felted snowmen and recycled paper baskets. These items were taught at the "hands on day." The kids remembered me as they checked their projects in. I felt like I actually made a connection and influenced them artistically in a small way. Many received blues!!
Carson, from our club, came to my craft camp and made a recycled metal soldier/man - he received a merit! Good for him.

What neat projects all the kids have, I bet you had a ton of fun interacting with all the wonderful kids. Great to see my cousins with their cool projects also. I agree with Aunt Cheryl that you have a great influence with the kids and we do see it in Shannon's girls.
ReplyDeleteI was watching some of the news interviews last night on wsaw.com and also saw some other friends (Mike Borchardt) and his 2 girls, doing the kids britches project and learning how to show animals and the benefits of starting young so they feel more comfortable when they get older taking their animals in the ring to be judged. Very neat interviews and great projects. Thanks for sharing!
