Thrifty Ham Soup

Thrifty Ham Soup

Friday, Anna and I ran into Country Fresh Meats in Weston.  My friend Linda was working and told me about the $3 sale section.   There were packages of "ends and pieces" of different items like pork chops, sausage and ham.   I bought some of the packages and came up with this delicious soup for pennies.  I bought these 2 for $6.

I diced up the ends and pieces and browned them in a pan.

I diced up potatoes, carrots, celery, onions and garlic.  Once ham is heated through put into a large kettle.  Then put diced veggies into same pan and heat through.  Add a cup of water to bring up the bits of ham goodness stuck to the bottom.

Put all into the kettle and add water to cover.  I also added some kidney beans.  Heat till soft.

Serve with some warm biscuits.  Super easy, inexpensive and delicious!

Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.
