Farmhouse Friday - Week 27 - July 4th and More

It's a tradition, that we go to the Antigo parade each year.  Grandma lived right off the parade route.  The parade seems different without stopping at her house first for a patriotic dessert, walking to the corner, watching her visiting with neighbors.  Time moves on I guess, we can only grab a hold of and create memories of during what little time we live.

I love this bouquet from Green's Flower Farm a friend, for the second summer, has gifted me with a weekly flower subscription.  I'm getting so spoiled with these!  This one looks like fireworks.

Then, without going into too much detail, I had a rough day with so many struggles with my mobility, disease, other's perception of me, it was just too many things in like 48 hours.  The last thing...almost broke me...I did have a good cry about it.  Anyway, I wanted to call my brother and tell him about it, because he had mobility issues and understands it.  Well, about 30 minutes after I hung up, Al came in with this bouquet my brother and sister-in-law dropped off.  Then I cried again.

Our bees are doing great!  Al thinks we can get some honey pretty soon.  I love just sitting and listening to the hum.

With all the heat the garden is really doing good.

I spy a garlic I missed harvesting.  I like garlic scapes.

We had a few wet days this week, so the ramp isn't totally finished.  I have been using it and it is great!  I will share photos next week.  I am almost done boxing up donate items left over from the sale here.  I am just letting it go.  I still see some value in most of what is left, but I need to move on to the next phase of my Swedish Death Cleanse.

Have a great weekend.  It's hay time here.
Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.

    1. Thanks! We didn't have any success with bees last year. So we are excited to get our own honey.

  2. Your "garlic scape" is lovely. And, yes, your gardens are looking really good. I'm sorry to read that you were/are going through a rough patch. I know you have a much more limiting condition at this point but I definitely feel a bit of what I imagine you do. Each day I can do less, each day there is more pain...each day I have to explain to yet another someone that I can't do something, and each day I feel like I'm losing ground in everything in my life. I'm so very glad that you have a strong support system.

    1. Oh Robin, the way you described yourself is exactly how I feel too. I'm sorry for us both. My chickens scratched up and kicked out 50 bulbs or garlic that was planted last fall...ugh...this lonely garlic was from previous year. Thanks for the comment. We may drive up near you tonight look for the hot air balloons.

  4. What beautiful bouquets! There's nothing like some flowers to cheer a gal up. Sometimes a good cry is just what's needed.
The parade looks like fun. So many great memories for you and your family.
    Keep rockin' that garden!

  5. I'm so sorry about your mobility issues and how you were/are feeling. It's not easy and some people just don't understand. I know, with lupus I have been through the same thing. A good cry washes away all the negative. How wonderful to receive such beautiful flowers. Your garden looks beautiful and I'm so thrilled you have bees I love seeing how the hives work and how people tend to their bees. I can't have hives where I live. Have a very good day today.

  7. we have also had a few wet days and a lot of wind and power outages. i think the power outages were due to falling trees hitting wires. i did not decorate for the 4th of july and we didn't do anything. our parade here was cancelled due to rain and the fireworks were also. the gift of flowers, i'm not sure there is anything better!!
