TIME - How Do You Spend It?

Time, is the subject of this morning's ladie's Bible study.  My sister and I take turns sharing thoughts and scriptures.  We meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.

Today is my lesson day.  I heard something recently about time.  Someone said, "if we only spent as much time scrolling through scriptures as we spend scrolling our screens."  It struck me, because honestly, my spend alot of time doing that.  Some is for my online business, but most is just "wasting time."

How long does it take to drive to Green Bay?  How long do you bake sugar cookies?  How many days till chicks hatch?  These are all measureable amounts of time I happen to know.  I'm sure you can think of some for yourself, things we have done and know exactly how much time it takes to do it.

We measure everything in time.  How long we are in our mother's womb; weeks, months, years old; how long we are in school; lists and lists of things and events being measured by time.

T I M E :  T hings  I  M ust  E ndure

                  T hings  I  M ust  E xperience

                  T hings  I  M ust  E arn

This could break down one's whole life; TIME and the which of those you are currently experiencing.

Psalms 90:12

So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.

Ephesians 5:6

Making the best use of time, becasue the days are evil.

I've had some great teachers in my life, but TIME is the greatest teacher of all.  If we spend our time, lets say, scolling the net, we will be great at it.  However, if we take our time to do something productive, we will get good at something.  It takes time to get good at anything.  Put in the effort to improve your skills.

For me, this applies to time management.  Will I go cold turkey on something?  Well, probably not as I'm not very disciplined.  That is why I write these little motivational posts - they are for me.

We have decided to get rid of our cable tv, it's a time waster for us.  Nothing on and we have 100 channels.  We have been filling our evenings with walks, puppy training, crafting and books.  I don't miss it.  I think on my most productive friends, all that they complete, it's not by watching re-runs of The Office.  I also just read in my Noom program that the new "smoking" is sitting (in front of a some sort of screen).   Not heart healthy.

I was invited to an event where the guest speaker will be sharing ideas on how to volunteer in your community.  Well, I'd rather just do it, than talk about it.  Ahhaaahaa.  For me, spending a few hours "talking" is taking away from "doing."

The money lost or wasted can be earned again.  Not true of the time - that is gone forever.

Well, I don't have a way to tie all this into a little bow and end my post.  I just hope you can think about the things you spend your time doing and where you could improve on it.

Sunday's Thoughts

 Hello, it's been awhile....

Al had his wrist and elbow surgeries and is now back to work.

It was a great "taste" to retirement and we loved it.

I took a "break" from things...so to speak...

I start this week, with family here today, cupcakes with cotton candy nests holding a peep....(it's our Easter today).  Clean house and "slate" so to speak (I love when my house is really clean, anyone want to come visit?  Come in the next day or two it won't last).

I challenged myself in March, to write down on my calendar, one word for that day that impressed me or challenged me.  I love looking back at it and remembering my emotions.  For April, I am writing down one little sentence I may have said or heard someone say.  It is really shaping my behavior.  Truthfully, they are motivating me.  It started on April 1, actually when I said something to my sister...."why do we know what to do, but don't"....(runs in the family).

That has challenged my direction....

My friend sent me this too and I remind myself of it every day this week...it really motivated me!

So, as we begin this new week, I challenge you to find something to motivate you and your actions.  It way be right in front of you.
